Gluten intolerance, also called celiac disease, is an autoimmune disease caused by a hypersensitivity to gluten, which is found in grain products such as wheat, barley and rye. Some of the most common symptoms of gluten intolerance/celiac disease are stomach problems, such as abdominal pain, gas, diarrhea and constipation, and fatigue and exhaustion, even after a good night's sleep.
The IgA transglutaminase antibody test is a reliable and sensitive blood test that can be used to diagnose celiac disease.
The test measures the levels of IgA-type antibodies that are produced against the transglutaminase enzyme in gluten intolerance. A high value of these antibodies may indicate a high probability of celiac disease.
